Terms and Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to all students and parents/guardians engaging the services

of North Star Tuition (“we”, “us”, “our”).

 

By enrolling a student and/or using our services, you agree to the following terms:

 

Services Provided

North Star Tuition provides educational support services that include, but not limited to:

1. One-on-one tutoring both online and in-person

2. Small group sessions

3. Study skills tutoring

4. Homework support and assessment feedback

5. Self-guided research and feedback only services (where applicable)

Our services are academic support only and we do not guarantee specific academic outcomes. 

 

Scope and Responsibility

1. The role of our tutors is to guide, explain and build understanding. Tutors do not complete work on behalf of students or provide answers for assessment tasks. 

2. The final responsibility of assessment submission, exam preparation and academic performance remains with the student.

 

Enrolment and Commencement

Enrolment is confirmed once:

1. An intake questionnaire has been completed,

2. The appropriate service tier has been agreed upon, and

3. Payment arrangements are in place.

We reserve the right to recommend or decline service where we believe our model is not the right fit for a student’s needs.

 

Fees and Payment

Fees are charged in advance, either weekly or per package, depending on the agreed service. Fees may vary depending on lesson format and year level. We reserve the right to revise fees with reasonable notice.

 

All invoices must be paid by the due date listed and any late payments may result in the suspension of services until the account is brought up to date.

 

Cancellations and Rescheduling

1. A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session.

2. Sessions that are cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice or missed with no notice will be charged in full.

3. We cannot guarantee availability for rescheduled sessions. 

4. In exceptional circumstances (e.g. illness or emergency), discretion may be applied on a case-by-case basis.

5. We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule sessions due to tutor illness or unforeseen circumstances. Where this occurs, sessions will be rescheduled or credited. 

 

Packages and Expiry

Prepaid packages must be used within the timeframe specified at the time of purchase. Any unused sessions outside the package period may expire unless otherwise agreed in writing. Packages are non-transferable between students without prior approval.

 

Communication

1. Communication will occur via approved channels (e.g. email, platform messaging). 

2. Tutors do not communicate directly with students outside agreed session times unless approved.

3. Parents/guardians are encouraged to raise concerns promptly to North Star Tuition so they can be addressed constructively. 

 

Student Behaviour and Expectations

Students are expected to:

1. Arrive on time and be prepared

2. Engage respectfully with tutors

3. Follow instructions and participate appropriately

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate services if behaviour is disruptive, unsafe or repeatedly uncooperative.

 

Technology and Online Services

For online sessions:

1. A stable internet connection and functioning device are the responsibility of the student/parent.

2. Technical issues on the student’s end do not qualify for refunds.

3. Tutors will make reasonable efforts to continue sessions where minor disruptions occur.

 

Privacy and Confidentiality

Personal information may be collected in the course of providing tutoring services to contact and communicate with students/parents. Student information is kept confidential and used only for service delivery and internal purposes. Intellectual Property

All materials provided by North Star Tuition remain our intellectual property. These materials may not be copied, shared, resold or distributed without written permission.

Termination of Services

Either party may terminate services with 14 days’ notice. We reserve the right to terminate services immediately in cases of serious misconduct, non-payment or a breach of these terms.

 

Limitation of Liability

North Star Tuition is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including academic results. While we aim to support progress and confidence, we cannot guarantee specific outcomes as these depend on student effort, attendance and engagement.

 

Amendments

These Terms & Conditions may be updated and the continued use of services constitutes acceptance of updated terms.

 

Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the relevant Australian state or

territory in which services are provided.

 

By engaging North Star Tuition’s services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
